Despatch Team Leader (E)

The recognised position of a Team Leader is as a first line manager within the business. The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of their area, resources and team members.

In keeping with the Smurfit Kappa Open Leadership Framework, all Team Leaders are required to display appropriate positive leadership behaviours that empower and inspire their teams to perform to the best of their capabilities.

On occasion and where appropriate the Team Leader will be required to deputise for the Despatch Manager.

 

Key areas of responsibility:

CONTROLS & TARGETS

The Team Leader is responsible for achieving targets within their area of responsibility. The Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring their team members understand the measures and how they are performing against them. They will be able to identify possible areas of improvement.

Key areas of focus may include:

Waste / Service / Delivery targets / Quality / Overtime / Manning / OTIF / Down time / Stock Levels / Complaints reduction / SOP’s / Incident Logs / Layered audits

HEALTH / SAFETY / WELLBEING

The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that observation of site safety rules and employee wellbeing practices are observed at all times. 

Key areas of focus may include:

House Keeping & 5S / Accident Investigations / Near Miss reporting / Tool Box Talks / Safe Systems of Work / Training / SWOPS / Safety Checks & Audits

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

The Team Leader is responsible for managing the day-to-day people resource within their area.

Key areas of focus may include:

Performance Management / Absence Management (authorised & unauthorised) / Training & Development / Appraisals / Discipline / Team Briefings & Communication

Departmental Specifics

  • To ensure customer delivery and quality requirements are met.
  • Delivery and service to the customer is at or above OTIF targets
  • Pallet return and top board return control
  • Vehicles are loaded and unloaded to schedule and on time
  • Incident reports are communicated to the relevant departments
  • Despatch line is clear at all times
  • Housekeeping audits and layered audits completed daily
  • Pallets are reworked daily and put back in to stock
  • Returns are communicated to the quality department, customer and quantity
  • Stock loads are managed to control main warehouse stocks
  • Driver control in loading bay is adhered to.

Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum (rotating shifts, Monday to Friday)
Holiday: 25 days plus statutory
Contributory pension
