Maintenance Engineer - Manufacturing

Here at Smurfit Kappa Tannochside in Glasgow, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented Maintenance Engineer to join our Manufacturing team. Reporting directly to our Engineering Team Leader, our Maintenance Engineer is a key role, responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of machines and general plant, through the delivery of effective electrical and / or mechanical engineering skills.

Main Duties of the role are:

  • Maximising equipment utilisation by carrying out effective preventative maintenance procedures, routine safety checks on all processing equipment.
  • Promoting an environment of continuous improvement at all times and assisting in process improvement projects.
  • Installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Identification and recovery of fault situations on all processing equipment that includes Printing and Die cutting machines and ancillary devices.

Electrical:

  • Knowledge of systems that would be advantageous: Lenze, Sew, Siemens.
  • Knowledge of Siemens and Allen Bradley plc's.

Mechanical:

  • Understanding hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding pneumatic systems.
  • Experience of mechanical drive systems (Power transmission).
  • General mechanical repairs.

To be successful in our Maintenance Engineer role, candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Educated to City & Guilds or HNC in Engineering is required (Electrical / Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • 18th Edition Regulations Electrical certification is highly desirable
  • Ideally Alen Bradley and Siemens Plc experienced
  • Experience from related print industry background would be preferred
  • Highly organised, problem solver, methodical thought processes and high attention to detail
