Finance Assistant

Smurfit Kappa Saxon Packaging has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join us in January 2024 and to provide professional, reliable and accurate reporting on business performance with responsibility for customer credit limits, financial compliance preparation, ledger reconciliations and supporting financial processes. The role will form part of a Finance Team, reporting to the Financial Controller.

Key job requirements 

  • Responsibility for control of general ledger
  • Input and reconciliation of control accounts within the accounts system, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure all prescribed accounting reports are run and reconciled monthly.
  • Financial compliance preparation
  • Responsibility for setting, maintaining and reviewing customer credit limits
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Management pack preparation, including KPIs
  • Credit control assistance
  • Ensure all controls and authorities are maintained and authorised appropriately
  • Maintain good housekeeping of the GRIR account and open purchase orders
  • Bi-weekly interface reconciliations between systems
  • New customer and new vendor account creation
  • Monthly sales reconciliations
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Environmental and sustainability compliance reporting & maintaining records

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to have good communication skills, both written and verbal, along with an organised and structured approach to your workload and an eye for detail, especially with the numbers, in an always audit-ready environment.  Your ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload will enable you to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers in a deadline-driven environment.

As this role involves working with numbers and regular written communication with internal and external stakeholders, you will need efficient computer skills in Ms Office applications (particularly Excel software).

Ideally would have experience in a similar role, but we would consider candidates looking for their first position in a Finance Department with ambition to learn. Accounting qualification is not essential, as we are willing to support study towards such a qualification.
