Smurfit Kappa - Abercarn, are recruiting a Packaging Designer to develop innovative graphic solutions that articulate marketing, graphical and technical concepts for customers and internal Group design and sales departments.

     

    Key requirements of this role include an ability to:

    • Provide structural design support service to meet our customer’s requirements.
    • Ensure all designs issued to customers can be manufactured, where possible, effectively at Abercarn or within Smurfit Kappa UK.
    • Produce product samples using on-site large format cutting table.
    • Have a general understanding of all major customers and their specific requirements, providing alternative innovative solutions if required
    • Create marketing material, concept visualisations, packaging artwork, e-marketing, print advertising and other ad-hoc marketing
    • Provide technical support to the internal and external sales teams
    • Raise specifications for new work to enable manufacture
    • Provide CAD drawings for the factory as required
    • Undertake customer visits when necessary

    Please note that this role requires the below skills knowledge and experience:

    • Educated to degree standard in a creative discipline and/or 3+ years’ experience of working in a similar or transferable role
    • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software
    • Knowledge of Maxon Cinema4D
    • Knowledge of Esko CAD system (preferable but not essential)
    • Excellent CAD skills and proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Creativity and innovation alongside numeracy, accuracy and commercial awareness
    • Ability to receive and interpret briefs, and to recognise when information is incomplete
    • Experience of working with or within production would be beneficial
    • Work accurately and efficiently to tight deadlines under pressure
