eCommerce Business Development Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an eCommerce Business Development Manager who can win new business and grow Smurfit Kappa’s market share in the selected high-growth eCommerce markets.   This is a key position within the business we are looking for a pro-active, customer focused individual to come and be part of the team!  This role has a mix of both new business development & account management and reports into the UK eCommerce Director.

You will be a confident sales professional and a natural 'people-person', you will thrive on networking with existing and potential customers to bring in new business across the organisation. Your experience within the Packaging industry means you will be building strong working relations within various internal teams as well as our existing customers.  There is a strong focus on travelling to meet customers and meeting teams at our sites across the UK.

New Business Development - 60%

  • Win new business and to grow Smurfit Kappa’s market share in the selected high-growth eCommerce markets.
  • Support the development of eCommerce best practise and innovation to strengthen our position as market leaders. 
  • Support UK eCommerce strategy through implementing the go-to-market strategy, best practices and developing sales enablement toolkits.
  • Support UK eCommerce Director in implementing and developing National and Regional eCommerce pipelines.
  • To understand the customer and market specific challenges and pains in relation to consumable packaging and contribute in building tailored added value solutions.
  • Lead, facilitate and monitor VSP process and its application utilising resource and toolkits.

Account Management - 40%

  • Successfully develop selected key Smurfit Kappa UK eCommerce accounts, utilising full breadth of Smurfit Kappa capabilities to achieve accelerated growth and Contribution enhancement.
  • Work alongside Smurfit Kappa supply sites cross functionally in order to ensure high level of supply within key performance criteria such as customer service, innovation, quality & seamless service.
  • Develop and evaluate key stakeholder relationships throughout the customers’ organisation to maintain a high level of customer confidence.

  • Excellent management skills with a strong drive to deliver Customer satisfaction, agreed budget and sustainable profit and volume growth.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability manage relationships while still pushing the company towards continuous improvement.
  • Excellent commercial and technical awareness of all areas of the Supply Chain.
  • A logical, consistent & resourceful approach.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain standards under pressure.
  • Able to extract varying levels of detail from different sources and then build into a clear understanding of requirement.
  • Able to work with customer/SK technical teams to maintain & promote continuous improvement.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Sound understanding of structural design/print/conversion/packing lines essential as is a good commercial understanding.
  • Able to manage all elements of NPD from concept through to trial & launch.
  • Able to support customers own tender requests with fast turnaround.
  • Excel skills - essential to provide fast accurate detailed reports both internal & external.
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills – essential to produce compelling customer presentations and proposals.
