Smurfit Kappa Corrugated 12 Month Engineering Placement

With around 45,000 employees across 35 countries and an EBITDA of €1,510 million in 2020, Smurfit Kappa Group is one of the leading producers of paper based packaging in the world, with longevity, sustainability and innovation at its heart.

Smurfit Kappa Corrugated UK is a division of the Smurfit Kappa Group, and is a major player in a dynamic, fast paced and constantly evolving industry.  As a business it is both creative and innovative, providing eye catching retail-ready packaging solutions to support the sales and marketing campaigns of much of the UK manufacturing industry, as well as a vast range of protective transit packaging.  Add to that the fact that paper based packaging is the ultimate sustainable resource (in the UK 80% of all corrugated cardboard is recycled, and the average cardboard box contains 75% recycled fibres) and this has to be an organisation worth considering.

The business has Engineering Industrial Placement vacancies across the UK this year providing opportunities to join engineering and manufacturing teams working on productivity improvement and capitalising on investments made.  The nature of the work is varied, which means that it is often possible to allocate it according to the type of engineers recruited and their specific interests, as well as current business needs; this ensures the placement is relevant to you, as well as adding value to the business.

It is important that IPs reach their full potential both personally and professionally, while making a real contribution to the bottom line, so they are provided with the perfect learning environment of innovation, motivation and support.  They will receive on and off the job training, mentoring and coaching, in a real life, challenging work setting.  The kind of people who will be suited to these placements will be confident and ambitious, with a natural flair for building relationships at all levels of business and outstanding communication skills.  They will be self-motivated, tenacious and resilient, and comfortable working both alone and as part of a team.

The successful candidate who fits the bill will be offered: a salary of £21,000, 25 days holiday + public holidays, accommodation allowance, life assurance, contributory pension scheme, and the possibility to be considered for fast track to our Operations Graduate Training Scheme on graduating.

If you are up for the challenge, then please apply by the closing date of Monday 9 November 2021.

Please note, you must be enrolled on an engineering degree programme which allows for a placement year, and eligible to work in the UK after graduation in order to apply.
