Smurfit Kappa Corrugated Operations Graduate Training Scheme

With around 45,000 employees across 35 countries and an EBITDA of €1,510 million in 2020, Smurfit Kappa Group is one of the leading producers of paper based packaging in the world, with longevity, sustainability and innovation at its heart.

Smurfit Kappa Corrugated UK is a division of the Smurfit Kappa Group, and is a major player in a dynamic, fast paced and constantly evolving industry.  As a business it is both creative and innovative, providing eye catching retail-ready packaging solutions to support the sales and marketing campaigns of much of the UK manufacturing industry, as well as a vast range of protective transit packaging.  Add to that the fact that paper based packaging is the ultimate sustainable resource (in the UK 80% of all corrugated cardboard is recycled, and the average cardboard box contains 75% recycled fibres) and this has to be an organisation worth considering.

The business has places for recent graduates with a technical or engineering degree on its Operations Graduate Training Scheme in the UK this year.   This scheme is for graduates who have a passion for manufacturing, and are keen to get hands on with £multi million  machines working on both implementation and improvement projects as well as maintenance issues.  Over the course of the two year scheme, graduates will have the opportunity to really develop their technical manufacturing knowledge and experience in a practical environment, using the theories they have already studied.  With at least 2 different placements, each of approximately 12 months, on different UK sites the levels of exposure and responsibility, and the opportunities to develop are vast.

.

It is important to the business that graduates reach their full potential both personally and professionally, while making a real contribution to the bottom line, so they are provided with the perfect learning environment of innovation, motivation and support.  They will receive on and off the job training, mentoring and coaching, in a real life, challenging work setting.  Successful candidates will be confident and ambitious, with a natural flair for building relationships at all levels of business and outstanding communication skills.  They will be self-motivated, tenacious and resilient, and comfortable working both alone and as part of a team.  Mobility throughout the UK and a full driving licence are essential..

The successful candidate who fits the bill will be offered: a salary of £27,400, 25 days holiday + public holidays, accommodation allowance, life assurance, contributory pension scheme.
