Smurfit Kappa Paper 12 Month Engineering Placement

With around 45,000 employees across 35 countries and an EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) of  €1,510 million for 2020, Smurfit Kappa Group is one of the leading producers of paper based packaging in the world.

Smurfit Kappa Paper UK is a division of the Smurfit Kappa Group, operating two separate Paper Mills, each with over 150years of paper making experience, one in Kent, which after recent investment now operates a state-of-the-art paper-making machine, and another in the Midlands.  Together they offer the greatest volume and the widest portfolio of corrugated paper available in the UK, to ensure that customers, whether that is Smurfit Kappa Corrugated, or one of its external competitors, have both choice, and continuity of supply.  As well as fulfilling customer need, sustainability is also at the top of the agenda for the business, from using recycled raw materials, to recycling the water and power used in the paper making process to minimise our carbon footprint.

We have Engineering Industrial Placements this year in Snodland, Kent, and Nechells, Birmingham, providing opportunities to join engineering and manufacturing teams working on process and productivity improvement and innovation.  The nature of the work is varied, which means that we are often able to allocate it according to the type of engineers we recruit and their specific interests, as well as current business needs; this ensures our placements are relevant to you, as well as adding value to the business.

We want our IPs to reach their full potential both personally and professionally, while making a real contribution to the bottom line, so we provide them with the perfect learning environment of innovation, motivation and support.  They will receive on and off the job training, mentoring and coaching, in a real life, challenging work setting.  The kind of people we are looking for will be confident and ambitious, with a natural flair for building relationships at all levels of business and outstanding communication skills.  They will be self-motivated, tenacious and resilient, and comfortable working both alone and as part of a team.

To the successful candidate who fits the bill we are offering: a salary of £21,000, 25 days holiday + public holidays, accommodation allowance, life assurance, and a contributory pension scheme; as well as the chance of an engineering career with us on graduation.
