Plant Manager - Windrush

The Operations team at the Windrush site have an exciting role for a Plant Manager to join the team and contribute to the continued success of the business following recent, significant capital investment.

Reporting to the Operations Director and with line management responsibility for Production, Engineering, Quality and Despatch, this role will play a critical role in developing our people and driving employee engagement across production. They will lead and facilitate employees at all levels to develop processes to ensure maximum efficiency through continuous improvement in all aspects of the organisation.

Through collaboration with their direct reports, the post holder will establish and maintain a high performing team which achieves maximum labour efficiency and productivity output whilst ensuring that the team work to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key job requirements 

  • Leading and developing the team through team and individual objectives which stretch, challenge and continually improve performance
  • Champion employee engagement throughout the business and role model the Open Leadership capabilities at all times
  • Strong focus on the health, safety and welfare of employees, contractors and visitors to the organisation
  • Driving operational performance across output, waste, quality and environmental
  • Operating as part of the operations management team, delivering strategic projects as well as maintaining operational efficiency. 
  • Fully support SKOPE deployment, ensuring the leadership team are fully engaged and that suitable resource is allocated to deliver a sustainable improvement with full crew involvement
  • Ensure the highest standards of production, performance and behaviours are communicated and instilled across the organisation.
  • Support with the transformation of plant aesthetics and housekeeping to world class standards
  • Keeping up to date with best practice and seek opportunities to develop self and others
  • Develop talent and challenge areas of poor performance
  • Ensure business practices are carried out in a way that creates engagement and buy-in of all key stakeholders (employees, union representatives, managers, customers)

Essential and Desirable

Applicants will be to degree level education in a production/business related discipline or equivalent experience (at least five years Operations/Production Manager experience in a high-volume manufacturing background), have experience in ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 systems or equivalent and be a strong people manager with good interpersonal skills and the ability to model the Open Leadership principles. As well as excellent organisational skills, the successful applicant will have technical expertise in continuous improvement and strong commercial acumen.

 

The role will be based at Windrush, but the successful applicant will be a key part of the Sheetfeeding team and will therefore be expected to be flexible to travel to the other sites (located in Norwich) on a regular basis.
