An exciting opportunity has arisen for a production operative to join the team at yate on a permanent basis, Working as part of the Operations Team, on a 3 shift rotating pattern including nights and some 12 hour shifts.

The successful candidate  will be highly motivated, focused and driven, demonstrating a positive can do and safe attitude together with excellent self-organisation and motivation skills.We are looking for applicants who are great communicators, the ability to support a drive for continuous improvement in both productivity and reducing wastage, whilst fully complying with the site's Health & Safety culture.

Previous experience within a manufacturing process operation is preferred, but full training will be provided. It is expected that Production Operatives will be able to train in multiple areas, to assist in building our multi skilled and flexible team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Understand and work to high Health & Safety standards, including reporting any H&S issues.
  • Complying with Quality and Hygiene specifications and requirements.
  • Managing a machine crew.
  • Taking dimensional and visual measurements and associating these with products specifications, ensuring products are within tolerance of customer expectations
  • Setting machinery via a computer and manually – Crash lock/ Straight line and 4 Corner tray formats.
  • Cleaning and maintaining machinery
  • Work with your Shift Team Leader on process/continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained throughout production process.
  • Assist your Shift Team Leader in improving all KPI’s with effective utilisation of labour and resources.
  • Minimise downtime by forward planning to ensure all materials are available well in advance
  • To help utilise allocated labour to the best effect in order to achieve identified priorities.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to demonstrate a positive safety culture
  • Good attendance records and excellent work ethic are essential
  • Understanding of basic numerical data - required to operate to required production standards.
  • Good team player ethos - able to work as part of a crew and on their own.
  • Self-motivation and good organisation skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to identify and act upon process improvement opportunities
